Audrey Potter Obituary

Audrey Tuttle Potter age 94 of Westfield passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at her home. She was born in Deerfield Township in 1927. She grew up on her family’s farm in Rose Valley, and graduated from the Knoxville high school. She lived in - and loved - the Cowanesque Valley area for the rest of her life, moving away for just a few years when she worked in Elmira and in Detroit, MI. Audrey married her second husband, Homer “Pete” Potter, after he returned from serving in the Korean Conflict, and they were together until his death in 2006. She had two sons from her first marriage, Gene and Steven Mascho, who are both deceased. (She is also preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, and a grandson.) Audrey and Pete had one son, Brian. Devoted to her friends and her family, Audrey was dearly loved by them in return. Surviving family members include nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; cousins; daughters-in-law; sister-in-law; and son Brian. Audrey was known throughout her long life for her strong work ethic, determination, faith, and community service. She served as the Westfield Township secretary for 16 years; was church secretary for the Methodist Church in Knoxville for many years; and, for 50-plus years, was a member of the Westfield branch of Eastern Star serving as treasurer and Grand Matron. We also remember Audrey for how much she enjoyed playing “Mexican Train” and card games; her fondness for figuring out a complicated jigsaw puzzle; and keeping some of her grandchildren supplied with delicious pumpkin cookies and other treats. She was an avid gardener until recent years, and always enjoyed watching birds at her bird feeder. Audrey’s legacy of love and service will be a lasting one. We will miss her so very much. A memorial service will be held at Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St., Westfield, PA, on Saturday, December 4, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Larry O’Dell officiating.
