Bertha M. Loucks

Bertha Marie Loucks, age 93 of Elkland, PA passed away on Friday, September 9, 2022 at UPMC Wellsboro. Born June 17, 1929 in Catonsville, MD, she was a daughter to the late Fred and Florence (Talbert) Novisher. Bertha married Arthur Loucks in October 1947 and they spent over 50 loving years together until his passing in December 2002. She loved singing and was even a semi-professional at it. Bertha also enjoyed gardening, square dancing, and spending time with her family. She was a devout member of the United Church of Nelson and was the treasurer of the church for many years. Bertha is survived by her daughters, Susan (Willy) Held of Middlebury Center, PA and Caroline (Hank) Rosely of Palm Beach, FL; son-in-law, Eugene Handwerk of Germansville, PA; grandchildren, Carrie Zito of West Chester, PA, Aaron Held of Livonia, NY, Adam Held of Middlebury Center, PA and Andrew, Tyler, and Meredith Handwerk all of Germansville, PA; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Held and Harrison Held; sisters, Freda Loucks of Auburndale, FL and Thelma Phillips of Comins, MI; brother, Fred Novisher of Galeton, PA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both her parents; her husband, Arthur Loucks; and daughter, Doreen Handwerk. Family and friends are welcome to Kenyon Funeral Home, 214 W. Main St., Elkland, PA on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 for calling hours from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 at the United Church of Nelson at 11:00 am with Pastor Michael Denelsbeck officiating. Bertha will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery, Galeton, PA next to her husband and family.
