Cecelia VanZile Obituary

Cecelia Lillian (Cornell) VanZile, age 86 of Lawrenceville passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at home. Born September 14, 1936 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Dougall) Cornell. Cecelia worked at a chicken farm and then as a cook for Williamson High School. On July 3, 1953 she married Ronald J. VanZile, Sr. at the Salvation Army in Corning, NY. They settled down in Lawrenceville, PA where they resided together happily for 69 years. They were members of the Salvation Army in Corning, where she worked with the Sunbeams and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 15 years. They joined the Tioga Junction United Methodist Church in Tioga Junction until it burned down and then transferred to Lawrenceville United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent for 51 years, a Bible School teacher and an active member of the United Methodist Women. Cecelia is survived by her loving husband, Ronald; daughter, Pam VanEtten of Tuscarora, NY, Cheryl Bonham of Lawrenceville, Cathy (Paul) Valentine of Tunkhannock, PA and Carol (Jim) Tamsen of Buffalo, NY; a son, Ronald VanZile, Jr. of Lindley, NY; two brothers, David (June) Cornell of Corning and Charles Cornell Jr of Louisville, KY; sister, Gertrude Zanders of Allentown, PA; sister in law, Audrey (Arland) Wagner of Holiday, PA; grandchildren, Aaron Bonham, Andrew (Niki) Bonham, Adam Bonham, Abram (Kelsey) Bonham, Michelle Contanza, Michael (Melanie) VanZile, Joe Tamsen, Josh Tamsen, Shane Bolt, Tiffany Augustine, Kiley Hogue, Jennifer (Paul) Dalton, Steven Hogue, Richie (Gwen) VanEtten, Debbie VanEtten, Ashley Valentine and Robert Valentine; 20 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sons in law, Richard VanEtten and Louis Bonham and two grandchildren, Angelica Bonham and Joshua Bolt. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at the Calvary United Methodist Church in Lawrenceville on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 2:00PM. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or to the Calvary United Methodist Church.
