Dorothy S. Earl

Dorothy Marie Swayne Earl passed away peacefully on Monday, October 3, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 87 after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Born January 12, 1935 in Westfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Agnes (Nelson) Swayne. Dorothy was married to Drexel John Earl on May 28, 1955 at the United Methodist Church in Westfield. They recently celebrated their 67th anniversary. She is survived by her husband, Drexel John Earl of Westfield; her children: Coleen (Arnie) Klepenko of Mohnton, PA, Delsie (John) Zdanowicz of Camp Hill, PA, and John (Vickie) Earl of Troupsburg, NY; grandchildren: Ashley (Austin) High, Lindsey (Nate) Reider, Kami Zdanowicz, Andrew Zdanowicz, and Dalton Earl; great-granddaughters: Lakelynn Reider and Ivanna High. Dorothy is also survived by Charles Bryant, Fernley and Doretta (Earl) Leach, Brenda (Earl) Ransom and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, John and Sarada (Short) Earl, sister, Beverly Bryant and brother-in-law, Theodore (Cub) Ransom. A 1952 graduate of Westfield High School and a 1956 graduate of Mansfield State Teachers College, Dorothy taught mathematics at Northern Potter High School, Troupsburg High School, and Cowanesque Valley High School, retiring in 1993. Dorothy was an active member of the Westfield United Methodist Church for 74 years, LeCercle Moderne Book Club for 25 years, King's Daughters, and she voted in elections for 58 uninterrupted years. She enjoyed an afternoon or evening drive through the countryside with the love of her life, reading, gardening, playing games & cards, watching girl's college sports and spending time with family and friends. Family will receive friends at Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St., Westfield on Friday 5:00 - 7:00 PM and on Saturday 12:00 - 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held immediately following on Saturday, 2:00 PM. Burial will be in the Champlin Cemetery.
