Douglas Persing, 79, of Knoxville, PA passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Broad Acres Nursing Home in Wellsboro. Born October 6, 1942 in Little Marsh, he was the son of the late Alvin and Cleah (Taylor) Persing. Doug married Judith Ann McClelland on Feb. 4, 1963 and they shared 53 years together until her passing on Dec. 12, 2016. Doug retired from Dresser Rand in 2003 after 42 years of service and was a Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer for 37 years. He enjoyed turkey hunting, softball and cherished the time with the light of his life, his grandson Brody. Doug is survived by his three sons, Jeffrey, Scott (Karmen), and Shawn (Kay), grandchildren; Brody and Sabrina (Shawn) Megan (Scott), Donelle, Valissa, TJ, and Douglas (Jeff), great grandchildren; Dallas, Brynlee, Julian, Lily, Violet, Oliver, Sawyer, Mason, and Jaxon; his sister, Gean Lopez and other family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association National Capital Area Chapter, 8180 Greensboro Drive, Suite 400, McLean, VA 22102.
