Grant Gehman residing in Lawrenceville, PA went home to be with the Lord on May 17,2022 at his home. Born November 28th 1948, Grant was 73 years old when he passed. Grant is survived by his wife of 53 years, MaryLou Gehman of Lawrenceville, 4 sons, Matt Gehman and his wife Melissa of Buffalo, NY, Benn Gehman and his wife Mandy of Tyronza, AR, Jason Gehman and his wife Kate of Wellsboro, PA, and Josh Gehman and his wife Sarah of Lawrenceville, PA; 22 grandchildren, brothers Henry Gehman, Ernie Gehman; sisters, Shirley Keller, Marie Clemens, Ada Gehman-Jackson, Elaine Anders. In addition to his parents, Warren and Irma Gehman, Grant was preceded in death by his sister, Hulda, and his brother, Earl Gehman.
Grant grew up outside of Souderton, PA in the town of Morwood where he attended Souderton HS and enjoyed Cross Country Track, Baseball and Wrestling. When he wasn’t playing sports Grant was working in the family butcher shop and involved in his church. It was at a Layman’s Crusade for Christ at Souderton High School that God got a hold of Grant and he gave his life to him. He met MaryLou at a Church youth group bowling party.
After Grant and MaryLou got married they moved to Colorado for 2 years where Grant attended community college. With their first child on the way, being away from family was too much for them, so they decided to move back to PA. Having worked for Smith Bros Ornamental Iron for several years, they took a vacation in the Wellsboro area and decided to try to start a business in Knoxville . Grant opened Gehman Ornamental Iron in 1976 and has worked in the steel fabrication business for almost 50 years. Much of his work and influence can still be seen up and down the valley. He also was very active in the churches they attended, leader of Christian Boys Brigade, volunteered at Camp Hickory Hill as an aviation instructor, and in their community as a Knoxville Boro council member.
Grant enjoyed construction and the process of taking a concept through to completion. He was an avid hiker, aviator, fisherman, inventor, and served on several boards including Family Life Ministries and C&N Bank. He would tell you today that none of that compares to knowing his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and spending time with his family and friends.
Calling hours will be held Friday, June 3, from 12:00 -2:00 pm at Victory Highway Wesleyan Church with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:00 pm. Victory Highway Church is located at 150 Victory Highway, Painted Post, NY 14870.
