Joan D. Cady

Joan D. Cady was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She left this world on August 16, 2022 at the age of 83 at home surrounded by family. Born on October 16, 1938 in Sabinsville, PA she was the daughter of the late Keith C. and Eve P. (Mertsock)Yale. Joan grew up in Sabinsville and the surrounding area. She would later move to Reading, PA where she worked for Ludens Candy Factory. A few years later she would move back to the area and work for Galeton production for several years. She returned to Sabinsville in 1971 and would marry Kenneth M. Cady. Joan was an avid gardener and was known to have a “green thumb.” She enjoyed several kinds of needle work, artwork, cooking, and baking. She was also a member of St. Catherine Mission Church in Westfield, PA. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth M. Cady, son Richard Pennell, daughter Donna (Pennell) Beach. Joan is survived by a sister Elaine Antonovich of Sun City, West AZ, brother Philip (Ginny) Yale of Bernville, PA; five children, sons James Pennell of Lemoyne, PA, Donald Pennell of Texas, Michael Cady of Sabinsville, PA; daughters Michele (Michael) Zinck of Sabinsville, PA; Milissa (Brennan) Wood of Tioga, PA and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Family will receive friends at Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St., Westfield on Tuesday, Aug. 23rd from 7:00 - 9:00 PM.  A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine's Catholic Church on Wednesday, Aug. 24th at 9:30 AM.  Burial will be in Sabinsville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sabinsville Ambulance Association, PO Box 156 Sabinsville, PA 16943 or to the UPMC Susquehanna Home Health and Hospice, 32-36 Central Ave., 3rd floor, Wellsboro, PA 16901.  Arrangements are in care of Kenyon Funeral Home, Westfield.
