Joyce A. Root

Joyce A. Root, age 81 of Westfield passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at UPMC Wellsboro. Born November 2, 1940 in Westfield, she was the daughter of the late Perry C. and Mary E. (German) Parker. Joyce worked for the Electri-Cord and retired from Corning Inc. after 25 years of service. She married Sterry J. Root and they shared 61 years together until his passing on Jan. 27, 2018. She enjoyed family genealogy, was a member of the Brookfield United Methodist Church and a member of the Victoria Grange #1193 for 61 years. She is survived by her children, Karen (Neil) Roberts, Koeth (Grace) Root, Kerry Scott Root and Kelly (Walt) Soroko; grandchildren, Emily R. Wheaton, Brock A. Root, Walter Soroko, Larissa Soroko, Derrick Root, Jessica Root, Brandi Root, Jamie (Jerry) Boorum and Shelley Hunter; great grandchildren, Lily, Randy and Addisyn Wheaton, Katie and Alice Soroko and Kaitlin and Evan Boorum; sisters, Jacqueline (Jim) Mills, Joan Harding and Jane Ames; brothers and sisters in law, Veleda Smith, Elton (Darla) Root, Duane (Mary Ann) Root, Galen (Nancy) Root, Gail Dean, Delores, Sandra and Linda Parker and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Sterry and siblings, Lois, Janet, Leon, Jocelyn, Lawrence, Harry and Linford Parker. A memorial service will be held at the Brookfield United Methodist Church, Westfield on Saturday, April 2nd at 11:00 AM with Pastor Edward Rodarmel officiating.
