Kathleen Ann Dooner

Kathleen Ann Dooner of Elkland, Pa. (formerly of Philadelphia) passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 after a series of illnesses. She was 65 years old. Born on June 14, 1958 in El Paso, Texas, Kathleen was the daughter of Thomas Francis Dooner and Dolores Marie Dooner, the dear sister of Dolores (Lori) Dooner and Thomas John Dooner (Alena), the loving aunt of nephews Ryan and Stephen Dooner and nieces Ariel, Mackenzie, and Ailis Dooner. In addition, Kathleen leaves behind her longtime friend and companion, Alan Pennick, and all her friends in Elkland, Pa. Kathleen attended St. Cecilia School in Philadelphia. Following her primary education, Kathleen attended Nazareth Academy High School. She furthered her education by attending La Salle University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education/Special Education and received a Master’s degree in Reading Specialty from Arcadia University. After receiving her education, Kathleen became a seventh grade teacher at St. Cecilia School. She spent several years there and made some timeless memories. After that, Kathleen worked at The Bridge School in Fox Chase where she taught English and Reading to youth and teens suffering from substance abuse. She culminated her career teaching at Valley Day School, a special education school in Morrisville, Pa. Kathleen touched the lives of the many students she taught throughout the years. Kathy had an exuberant love of life. She had a great sense of humor and would laugh at herself getting into embarrassing predicaments. Kathy enjoyed spending time with her family on fun outings. She enjoyed reading and sitting on her porch, exploring nature, shopping with friends and watching her Philly sports teams, especially her Philadelphia Eagles. Kathleen will be dearly missed by her family, friends and all the lives she touched through her kindness and loving ways. Kathleen will have a viewing at St. Cecilia Church in Philadelphia from 9:30-10:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 4, 2023.
