Louis Bonham, age 71 of Lawrenceville passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Born June 12, 1950 in Jesup, GA, he was the son of the late Henry Lee and Frankie (Powers) Bonham. He served in the United States Marine Corp, where he earned rifle and pistol expert badges, served in the US Navy Reserves and retired from Corning Inc. Louis enjoyed driving around in his car, watching old western reruns and loved helping people. He married Cheryl VanZile and they shared 33 years together. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; children, Aaron Bonham of Corning, Andrew (Niki) Bonham of Lawrenceville, Adam Bonham of State College, Abram (Kelsey) Bonham of Tioga and Alyssa (Chris) Bonham Danchuk of Ohio; his grandchildren, Ezekiel, Eli and Lennon Bonham and Natasha Danchuk; siblings, Vevelyn Burns of Elmira, Joann Beal of Elmira, Johnnie Johnson of Elmira and Theresa Williams of FL; father and mother in law, Ronald and Cecelia VanZile of Lawrenceville; a niece, Marissa A. Burns; nephews, James L. Jones, III, Franklin L. Jones, Melvin E.C. Phillips, Russell, Roosevelt and Gary Beal and Martonia Pittman; God sisters, Cheryl (Shawn) Kitchens Kambeitz, Toni Lynn Moore and Laurie Lewis and many other nieces, nephews and friends. Louis was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Angelica. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 14th, 11:00AM at 132 Oakwood Ave, Elmira Heights, NY 14903. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association.
