Maxine M. House, age 81 of Westfield passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at her home after a long illness. Born March 27, 1941 in Middletown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Christian J. and Ruth V. (Nichols) Bruning. Maxine graduated from Middletown High School in NY and worked for the Northern Tioga School District as a custodian for 29 years. She was always a hard worker, never sitting still even in retirement. On Feb. 20, 1960 she married Richard House and they just celebrated 62 years together. Maxine loved her buckwheat field, her yard, flowers and plants. She enjoyed cooking, baking, spending time with friends and family and sitting on the porch. She touched many people with her kindness and loving nature over her lifetime. She always had a smile on her face and never thought twice about helping family and friends in need. Her house always had an open door that welcomed family and friends for a cup of coffee, freshly baked cookies and friendly conversation. She will be remembered for so many wonderful things but most of all for her kind and loving soul. Maxine is survived by her husband, Richard; her children, Marlene (Edmund) Sayles and David (Lorie Hillyard) House and grandchildren, Renee (Mathew) Fling, Brett (Nicole) Sayles and Klarc House. She was also loved immensely by her great grandchildren, Alexis, Jordan, Piper, Hally and Baby Fling; niece, Patricia (Ed Davis) Kindle of Bloomingburg, NY; nephew, Robert (Mary Styles) Zeller of Newburgh, NY; great niece, Christine (Dave) Erickson of Slate Hill, NY; great nephew, Eric (Christie) KIndle of Clermont, FL and many close family friends. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marlene; brothers, Christian, Richard, Thomas and Donald and brother in law and sister in law, Frank and Kathleen Zeller. A memorial service will be held at Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St., Westfield on Saturday, April 23rd at 2:00 PM with Frank Nudd officiating.
