Michael Stuart Doran

Michael Stuart Doran age 44 of Knoxville passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at UPMC Wellsboro.  Born August 16, 1977 in Wellsboro, he was the son of Clifford L. and Jane L. (Shumway) Doran.  Mike graduated from Cowanesque Valley High School and received his Masters in Psychology at Northcentral University.  He married Heather M. Sterner on June 8, 2002 and they shared 19 years together.  Mike worked as a mental health therapist for the past 20 years and had a great passion for his patients he served.  Mike has enjoyed doing martial arts for over 30 years, starting at the age of 14; he was a 3rd degree black belt Instructor in Okinawan Shorinji Ryu.  He enjoyed photography, marvel movies and his marvel collection, Star Wars, video games, comedy and had a good sense of humor.  He was the grill master to his family; cooking, grilling and smoking meat.  Mike loved attending his kid's sports and was a great father.  He is survived by his wife, Heather; his children, Kari and Benjamin; parents, Clifford and Jane Doran of Westfield; sister, Suzanne Bish of Westfield; brother in law, Steve and Charlene Sterner of Hughesville, PA; grandmother, Georganna Doran of Knoxville; mother in law, Marcia Sterner of Watsontown, PA; nieces, Kylie, Lillian and Daisy Bish and several aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by grandparents, Theron and Dorothy Shumway; grandfather, Stuart Marvin "Bill" Doran; father in law, Richard Sterner and Master martial arts instructor, Michael Reed.  Family will receive friends at Kenyon Funeral Home, 222 W. Main St., Westfield on Sunday, October 10th from 1:00 - 3:00 PM.  A funeral service will be held immediately following at 3:00 PM with Tom Cooper officiating.
