Sue Marie (Kern) Lane

Sue Marie (Kern) Lane, age 73 of Bear, Delaware passed away at Christiana Hospital on August 12, 2021. Born March 27, 1948 in Wellsboro, PA, she was the daughter of William J. and Esther Lloyd Kern. Sue retired after 30 years of working at the University of Delaware, specifically in the Agricultural Department Administration and on top of that, she was a master barber. She enjoyed seeing and visiting family and friends when at all possible. Sue was also an avid traveler; visiting places like Greece, Ireland, Russia, Holland, Germany, and of course many places in the United States. Not only was she proud of the military but, she was an extremely patriotic American; volunteering with the USO at Dover, DE and with the VA Hospital in Wilmington, DE where she was known as the “coffee cart lady” by all her friends and veterans there. Sue is survived by cousins, Donna Packard of Lawrenceville, PA, Patty Kish of Ulysses, PA and Celia Pollard of Boyne City, MI; nephews, Joe R. Kern of Rapid City, SD and Bill Kern of Fairview, PA; niece, Kelly Tipton of Edinboro, PA; grandnephew, Will Kern of Suffolk, VA; and step-great-granddaughter Amanda Lane Wilt of Newark, DE. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim Lane formerly of Delaware. Private arrangements are being made with the family at this time.
