Theron H. "Sonny" Thompson, age 92 of Elkland passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Corning Hospital. Born March 8, 1929 in Hartsville, NY, he was the son of the late William H. and Elsie (Puffer) Thompson. Sonny married Phyllis L. Goodrich and they shared 72 years together. He was a self employed truck driver, owned and operated the Tom Thumb restaurant in Osceola for a few years, and worked at many local companies, Westfield and Elkland Tannery, Corestone Silo, Corning Glass Works, Dresser Rand and Morgan and Margraff. He was always busy working. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church for many years and a member now of the Wesleyan Evangelical Church. He loved to mow lawn and woodworking. Sonny is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his children, Connee Balch of Painted Post, Sunnee and Harry Dow of Auburn, NY, Ruth Ann and Rudy Farrell of NC, Theron G. and Susie Thompson of Tioga, James and Wanda Thompson of NJ, Gregory Scott Thompson of Harrisburg, Joanna and Phil Wood of Knoxville and Christopher and Tracey Thompson of Painted Post; 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; his sister, Pat Druetto of Wellsboro and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Wood and his siblings, Catherine Teachman, Ruth Schwabe, Hattie Swetland, Gerald Thompson and William Thompson. Family will receive friends at Kenyon Funeral Home, 214 W. Main St., Elkland on Saturday, Oct. 16th from 12:00 - 2:00 PM. A memorial service will be held immediately following at 2:00 PM with son in law, Harry Dow officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Osceola.
